Our mission is to advance a Canadian plant-based food industry that is competitive on a global scale to meet the evolving needs of our members, stakeholders, and marketplace. We provide valuable resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities to our members.

Position Overview: The University Intern will support the Plant-Based Foods of Canada team on various projects and tasks designed to enhance member engagement, continue to build our communications, and promote our association’s initiatives. This internship offers a hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, perfect for gaining practical experience in communications, marketing, and member relations.

Key Responsibilities:

Communications:

  • Assist in the creation and distribution of newsletters and other communication materials.

  • Support the management of social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, and monitoring engagement using Hootsuite.

  • Help maintain the association’s website with current news, events, and resources.

  • Support with drafting and editing articles, blog posts, and member spotlights.

Member Services:

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of member events, webinars, and meetings.

  • Help manage member databases and update contact information.

  • Respond to member inquiries via email and phone on an as needed basis, providing excellent customer service.

Project Support:

  • Participate in creative development for social media, including content creation and scheduled postings using Canva and Hootsuite.

  • Assist in creating a media contact list for use by Plant-Based Foods of Canada in media outreach.

  • Review research studies to support the development of content for use on social media, newsletters, and blogs.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving communication strategies and member services.

  • Support special projects and initiatives as needed, including marketing campaigns, events, and promotional activities.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports, and presentations.

Admin/Operations:

  • Assist with planning and execution of team meetings and events

  • Provide Bookkeeping support as needed.

  • Assist with general admin duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools; experience with Canva and Hootsuite is a plus.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
